June Bride...

... the theme of another challenge from one of the beadweaving groups I belong to.
Making something very special, unique and original for a bride
: the dream of all creators...

I took part in this challenge to get myself to create something unconventional i.e. avoiding the ubiquitous traditional "white" color... Green jumped to my mind!... not sure why. Perhaps it's the "June" telling me that it's summer and nature is at its lushiest.
A green quartz cabochon captured my eyes as I open my box of "bead embryos"... I instantly loved its elegance, softness and feminine drop shape. That was settled: got my focal point.
"June" also told me that my piece must have a summery sparkle... gold galvanized seed beads were out then, ready to be used, but silver galvanized ones also: silver represents shimmery waters in summer and I do love to mix gold and silver shines... I started beadweaving to encase my focal point!

By then, I was thinking to create an interesting contrast of colors rather than a conventional play of complementary colors... I found dark, chic, subtle hematite beads. Perfect. The elegance of the lustered grey and the contrast it created  stir my mind towards finishing the piece with an asian style...
To add the interest of another type of bead finish to the silver gavanized and grey hematite, I picked silver lined beads.
And to reflect the summer sky, I added deep turquoise lined beads: there is always a moment in the creation process when a choice seals the style of the piece... silver lined turquoise did it for me this time :)

After the focal pendant was ready, it became obvious that I should use pearls to form the necklace: the smoothness of the pearls was needed to complement and balance the intricacy of the focal point's beadweaving. The pearls also add the classic bride style...

Finally, I used a single pink duo bead to add a feminine color that also injected a drop of unexpectedness. Imagine if I had chosen a black or green duo bead instead... This was the second "style clinching" moment as I call it :)

The finishing touch had to be a beadwoven closing toggle using beads to match those used around the green quartz; that's what handmade is about: handcrafting even the smallest, often unseen details of a creation.
